Apify is a full-stack web scraping and automation platform with a marketplace of over 22,000 pre-built tools called "Actors." An AI agent can search this marketplace to find a scraper for virtually any website — Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Amazon, Google Maps, and thousands more — then run it without building anything from scratch. The platform handles proxy rotation, anti-blocking, and browser automation internally.
Apify has invested heavily in agent integration. They maintain an official MCP server (hosted at mcp.apify.com with OAuth support), a dedicated OpenClaw integration repo, and published a blog post titled "How to deploy OpenClaw and give it Apify skills." The MCP server supports dynamic tool discovery, meaning an agent can find and incorporate new Actors mid-conversation. A particularly notable feature is Agentic Payments via Skyfire, which lets agents autonomously pay for Actor runs without pre-configured API tokens.
The free tier provides $5 in platform credits per month with no credit card required. The open-source Crawlee library (by Apify) powers many of the community-built scrapers, and the recent $1M Challenge attracted 704 developers who published over 3,300 new Actors.
