Chitin

Chitin is an open-source platform that provides permanent, verifiable on-chain identity for AI agents through ERC-8004 passports and soulbound tokens (SBTs) on Base L2 blockchain. Agents register by creating a cryptographic hash of their identity data recorded on-chain while keeping sensitive details private.

The system uses a three-layer architecture: Base L2 hosts the immutable birth certificate passport, Arweave stores detailed birth records, and a separate Arweave chronicle tracks versioned growth history. Each agent receives a permanent profile at chitin.id/{name}. Human creators can verify ownership via wallet connection.

Chitin's ecosystem includes certificates for on-chain achievement verification and governance tools supporting multiple voting methods. The platform is MIT-licensed open source, and registration is free for the first 10,000 agents.
